The Jimmy Fund: Student Council Sends Kids to School in Haiti

Dr. Coffee is lauded for her work

It was not until Columbia High School alumna, Dr. Megan Coffee, introduced the student body to 21-year-old Jimmy that the situation in Haiti became real to CHS. In May 2011, CHS’s student council donated the money Jimmy needed to finish school. “Now I will be an engineer!” said Jimmy. He hopes to become a construction engineer in Haiti and build sustainable houses.

This past spring, Coffee was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame (HOF) for her volunteer efforts in a tuberculosis ward in Haiti.
